Day 26: Walking Around Green Lake with Friends Never Gets Old

Today was another rainy day here in Seattle, but I didn't care because I got to walk around Green Lake with my friend Sheri.  She, like many of my friends, is someone who is absolutely wonderful, brilliant, and infinitely kind.  It was so nice to spend the afternoon getting to know her better, finding more things in common, and sharing war stories and how we're better for them.

The variation in activities today was nice, because I had no variation in juice.  It turns out that my cantaloupe was so ripe that when I sliced into it today, I knew I couldn't save any for tomorrow or later in the week.  That cantaloupe had to be today's juice.  So, I made three servings of a juice my friend Jason sent to me called Betacarotine Juice.

Betacarotine Juice
  • 4-6 carrots (I used 5 per serving)
  • 1/3 cantaloup

This juice is a simple but tasty treat.  And given that I needed to use all my cantaloupe today, I just tripled the carrots and used the entire melon for my day's juice.

While I love this juice, a little variation today would have been nice.  If I hadn't needed my orange for later in the week, I would have made a different cantaloupe combination. Oh well.

In case you have the same issue and need to make juices with your entire cantaloupe all at once, here's another juice to enjoy: Berry Best.  It sounds delicious, and I wish I had those ingredients on hand (no blueberries or cherries in my fridge right now) to try to make this yummy drink.

Berry Best*
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup pitted cherries
  • 1/2 cup grapes
  • 1/4 cantaloupe cut into wedges

I'll definitely look forward to making this once cherries are in season!

I ended up drinking the second serving of juice while having dinner with Sheri, post-walk.  Truth be told, her noodle bowl at Thanh Vi looked and smelled a lot more appetizing than my juice.  =)

The final serving was consumed while watching Jurassic Park in 3-D with a group of friends.  I was lucky that I drank it during a short section of the movie where I wasn't catching my breath or jumping in my seat.  I didn't realize how much of the movie I forgot and was surprised by.  It was great!

I hope you all had a great weekend too!

And I'm looking forward to some variation in drinks tomorrow.

Until then, have a great night!
