Well, I ended up yielding two servings of the Citrus Sensation juice I made last night, so I saved one for breakfast this morning. And it was very yummy. It also helped to have a pre-made juice because I was running really behind.
I had an informational interview scheduled for 9am this morning at Fred Hutch, and I barely had enough time to make one juice before running to catch the bus. (Happily, I made it.)
After my informational, I had a phone interview with the Alzheimer's Association for their Associate Director of Policy Development position in Washington, D.C. While I'm not sure how the interview went (I'm often unsure of these things lately), I felt terrific and decided to walk to the Health Science Library on campus to apply for more jobs.
45-minutes and 2.5 miles later, I arrived at the library ready for some lunch.
Again, I don't know why I'm not recognizing this when I planned my daily menu, but I ANOTHER fruit juice drink: Eye Opener*
Eye Opener (1 serving)
- 2 cups hulled strawberries
- 2 large carrots (I used 4 medium)
- 1 orange (peeled and halved)
Unfortunately, that was not my favorite juice that I've made so far. In fact, I didn't much care for it and don't think I'll be making it again soon.
Today was an off day for juice making overall, sadly. But more on that later...
Although the Eye Opener wasn't that tasty, it sure did give me a lot of good energy. I was able to focus on job hunting, internet searches, and corresponding with friends for over five hours. However, I had plans tonight to go see a movie, so I left the library to go home and make my dinner juice before heading back out.
Intentionally, I made a green juice, aptly named "Leafy Greens". Like Eye Opener, Leafy Greens can be found in The Juicing Bible (see notation below).
Leafy Greens (1 serving)
- 8 fresh spinach leaves (I used about 12)
- 2 kale leaves (I used 5)
- 1 beet top, cut in half
- 2 stalks celery (I used 3 large stalks)
- 1 apple
Like Eye Opener, Leafy Greens was a let down for my taste buds. I ended up drinking the juice while watching the movie, which was good because it was a bit of a distraction from the taste. I also had to alternate each gulp of juice with a gulp of water. I always do this when I drink juice I don't care for, because it helps wash out the taste.

One good thing I will say about this juice is that is very pretty to make. Check out those colors! =)
I wonder if you guys think the same things about these juices. I'd love to hear your thoughts if you try out any of these recipes.
Until tomorrow, enjoy your juices...or your food, if you're eating solids. Good night!
